A History

Robin Clark initially  set up his practice in November 1963 after serving articles for four years as a Quantity Surveyor in Bristol with Faithful and Gould before moving to BR Wood and Partners at Coalpit Heath where he worked on projects such as Chapelcross Atomic Power Station in Scotland and Wearmouth No. 1 Colliery Surface Building in Sunderland.

In 1963 Robin started the surveying and architectural company RW Clark (Building Consultants) Ltd, trading as Robin Clark Associates, and initially working from home in Westport House, Malmesbury. In 1967 business expansion necessitated permanent premises and the business moved to offices at 38 Cross Hayes, Malmesbury.  By 1975 Robin Clark Associates had outgrown its premises at Cross Hayes and the opportunity was taken to purchase The Old Library, 44 High Street, Malmesbury where the company continues to operate.

Ian Maslin's first job was working for Robin and he stayed with Robin for ten years, after which he joined ASTAM Design in Cirencester. When the Cirencester office closed, he transferred to their head office in Gloucester. In 1993 ASTAM Design joined forces with Gloucester Building Consultancy and became ASTAM GBC Consultancy. Ian and his wife Mel set up a branch office for ASTAM GBC in Malmesbury in 2000 and have run this branch office successfully for the last six years, which has now resulted in a management buy-out by Ian and Mel Maslin.
